ABOUT US

Purpose

Spring Green Area Arts CoalitionThe Spring Green Area Arts Coalition was organized in 2003 by a group of citizens who thought it important to nurture the creative spirit in our community and to increase the level of support for artists and arts and cultural organizations so they may grow and thrive. The area served lies between Dodgeville, Richland Center, Mazomanie and Spring Green, and includes all small towns within the River Valley. The Arts Coalition embraces the performing arts, literary arts, visual arts, crafts as well as local and regional history and culture.

Goals

The Arts Coalition focuses on five areas of work:

It secures funding from the Wisconsin Arts Board and raises money in the community through special events. Funds are then awarded through a grants program to area artists and arts and cultural programs in the River Valley.

It raises awareness of the value of the arts to the local economy, education and the quality of life for residents by advocating among government entities and area businesses.

It develops and expands resources for the arts community on subjects such as health insurance, grant writing, marketing, financial management, board development, fundraising, and forming non-profit arts entities.

It showcases various art forms to encourage appreciation of the arts by hosting community programs that bring attention to local artists and the unique aspects of their work.

It encourages greater involvement of the public in arts and cultural events by sponsoring an arts and cultural events calendar online and in other formats for public information.
