Annual Meeting to Feature No Talking! The Spring Green Area Arts Coalition (SGAAC) will hold its annual celebration and meeting of the membership on Tuesday, February 8, in the upstairs banquet room of The Shed, 123 N. Lexington Street in Spring Green. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and is open to all SGAAC members and anyone interested in joining the Coalition. Annual membership is $5 for individuals and $35 for businesses and organizations. Although “business” is the required part of the meeting, the emphasis will be on food, entertainment, and good company. A cash bar will be provided.
Reid first came to the Spring Green area in the mid-1960s when he was a guest artist and instructor in the summer arts program of the Uplands Arts Council, founded in 1965 by Wyoming Valley’s Robert and Derry Graves. The Upland Arts Council, which flourished for about ten years, brought an astonishing diversity of first-rate professional artists and events to the area, and continues to be an inspiration to the SGAAC. Reid is a graduate of the UW-Madison’s renowned Asian Theatre program under the direction of A.C. Scott. His most recent professional association is with the Valley Ridge Theatre in Thomas, West Virginia, but he has performed and taught all over the world. Reid is back in the area for the winter months to work on a new book and to spend time with his daughters and grandchildren. He says, “It feels like coming home to be here again!” In the business portion of the meeting members will be electing the new SGAAC Board of Directors. No member will be discouraged from making a contribution to the dessert and snack table, but your eligibility to vote does not depend on it!
