Peace Through Understanding Drama Camp for Youth
Inez Learn’s “Peace Through Understanding” Summer Drama Camp is now in its 17th year. The Camp is beautifully set among the rolling hills and woodlands of the Uplands—across Highway 23 from Frank Lloyd Wright’s Hillside Studio. Its mission is to excite the imaginations of children and to actualize their innate humanity and compassion by exposing them to both the variety and the essential commonality of human cultural experience. In three different two-week sessions, using the outdoors as their rehearsal hall, Inez’s youngsters, ages 7 to 15, collaboratively develop their own dramatic renditions of—and props, costumes, and music for—the stories and myths of a particular country or culture. In the summer of 2004 the Camp will explore the cultural heritage of Hawaii. Typically a dozen or so stories are adapted into playlets in each session. Session I June 21–July 2; Session II July 5–July 16; Session III July 26–August 6. All sessions are 9am–2pm. All sessions age 7-15 years. All sessions $175; 10% discount for siblings, i.e., 1st child $175.00, others $157. $75 deposit due with registration—remainder due first day of camp. Sessions will be limited to 18 campers; early registration is strongly encouraged. Registration form >>
