The Spring Green Area Arts Coalition Creative Community Grant Program is made possible by funds received from the Wisconsin Arts Board and from matching funds generously and graciously contributed by local businesses and individuals. The River Valley area thrums with activity all year long. Check out the 2008 Calendar of Area Arts and Cultural Events for the latest happenings. And keep checking back; events are added regularly. There have been nearly 500 activities each year to choose from! Send Us Your Events for 2008: Do you have an arts or cultural event you’d like listed on the website? We’re still collecting events for the 2008 calendar year. Email us at calendar@springgreenarts.org to add your event, or submit it using our online form. In addition to our online calendar, a calendar of events is printed once a month in the summer River Valley Buyer’s Guide, as well as distributed to local businesses. All this is offered as a free service to anyone within a 20-mile radius of Spring Green. Over the past four years, SGAAC has created a new tradition that we like to call “community socials.” The socials are vibrant, fascinating events held five times a year to offer members a chance to discover and celebrate the history, culture, artists, and performers of our local area. Our various River Valley communities play host and gather to enjoy spectacular entertainment and refreshments, all centered around a basic theme. Themes have included music, history, quilts, movies, woodcrafts, poetry, “country living”, beer brewing, architecture, domestic arts of the ’30s, ’40s and ’50s, dance, Cinco de Mayo, restored cars, a visual arts Gallery Walk, watercolors, and an annual “slow foods” competition (recipes for 2007 winners here). The events are free, and the public is highly encouraged to attend. Watch this website for more details on our upcoming socials:
You can also view images from the quilting social in Lone Rock. Many thanks to photographer, Dick Ainsworth! The Arts Coalition has accomplished some amazing things since its inception in August 2003. Read the newsletters below for more details.
