Free Grant Writing Workshop To Be Held February 8

Posted on: 2012-01-25

The Spring Green Area Art Coalition’s Grant Writing Workshop, postponed earlier due to snow, has been rescheduled for this Wednesday, February 8 at 6:30pm at the Taliesin Studio at Jefferson and Worcester Streets.

If you have a great idea for an arts or culture project that would benefit our community, but you don’t have funding or an organization to support you, please attend the workshop. In addition to information about Arts Coalition grant opportunities and grant writing tips, the workshop will explore how to find and work with a fiscal sponsor. One of the barriers to applying for grants or other funding that would make a dream project possible is the tax exempt requirement. Individuals and organizations without tax exempt status must find an organization with 501c3 or other tax exempt status to serve as a fiscal sponsor.

The Spring Green Area Arts Coalition is eager to support great new ideas for our community. The Coalition hopes to match up potential sponsors with those seeking such a partnership at the Workshop and encourage them to apply for one of the Arts Coalition grants or for other funding programs.

Workshop presenter Karen Goeschko, Assistant Director for Programs and Services at the Wisconsin Arts Board, will offer information about both sides of the Fiscal Sponsor relationship and answer questions.

Serving as a Fiscal Sponsor can help an organization expand its impact in the community. If you are interested in learning more serving as a sponsor or about being sponsored, please join the Arts Coalition on Wednesday, February 8 at 6:30 pm at the Taliesin Studio at the corner of Jefferson Street and Worcester Street next to Nina’s Department Store.
